Chlamydiacea PCR - detects C. psittaci & C. chlamydiifrater genus organisms

Chlamydia psittaci testing:
Controlled infectivity studies demonstrate that VMD’s Chlamydia psittaci PCR assay detects 100% of infected birds:
· on choanal/pharyngeal swabs within 5 days or less post infection
· on all whole blood, oropharyngeal swab, and cloacal swab samples by day 15 post-infection.
Detects Genotypes A, B, C, D, E, F, WC, M56, and E/B.
Genotyping is available through special arrangements with the lab.

We have had numerous calls regarding discrepancies between test results and clinical observations/pathology reports. In all of these cases, VMD did not perform the diagnostic testing.
PLEASE NOTE: Avian Exotics Clin Path Lab does not use VMD for routine molecular diagnostic testing. To have your samples tested by VMD, please submit them directly to our lab.
